It took everything I had Cat easily distracted by cats and fabrics shirt to say anything nasty. In hindsight, I am almost positive it was an arranged marriage situation there is no way anyone would willingly marry such a hateful person. The poor girl kept a brave face but you could tell it stung. She decided to buy the dress so I took her measurements and sat down with the size chart with her. Our policy was always to order to fit the largest measurement because it is far easier to take in than letting out (with a few exceptions but in a zipper-back mermaid dress it is especially key). The bride could sign off on smaller size if she wished but if it didn’t fit, it was on her. The fiancé insisted she orders two sizes smaller than recommended because then she would have a reason to lose weight. She went along with it, ordered the dress and left. Months later she came back to try on her dress and I was already in an appointment so my manager took her.
I was relieved in a Cat easily distracted by cats and fabrics shirt ; as much as I liked the bride herself, I was grateful to be spared of seeing her in that awful dress that I knew wasn’t really her choice. I guess she was absolutely stuffed into it and it was a small miracle that it zipped. At the end of the day, my main interest is my bride being happy not what I think looks best on them. If asked my opinion I will be very gently honest but if not I keep my mouth shut. I don’t buy the whole plus-sized women shouldn’t wear mermaid styles etc. bullcrap. When I look in my clients’ eyes, I just want to see that happy excited glow. Every bride deserves to wear whatever the heck makes HER feel beautiful on her wedding day.
